Microsoft Exchange 365 / Outlook blocks email forwarding

I want to automatically forward an email to my billing rocket, but I get the message “Access denied, Your organization does not allow external forwarding.”

The message „Access denied, Your organization does not allow external forwarding.” is shown when Microsoft Exchange/Outlook blocks the automatic forwarding of external emails. You will usually receive an email in your inbox with the following content:

To enable automatic forwarding of external emails between your Microsoft Exchange/Outlook account and your Excel template again, simply update forwarding rules in your anti-spam policies:

Step 1 – Open Anti-spam policies

Open the list of anti-spam policies in your Microsoft Defender portal:

Step 2 – Open Anti-spam outbound policy

In the list of anti-spam policies (https://security.microsoft.com/antispam), click Anti-spam outbound policy (default) to open the outbound policy.

Step 3 – Edit outgoing email protection settings

In the opened window, click Edit protection settings to edit the outgoing email filter policies.

Step 4 – Allow automatic forwarding

Click on Automatic forwarding and select in the selection menu On – forwarding is enabled so that emails can be forwarded automatically.


Then click Save.
